AMUSEMENTS.

PEERLESS PICTURES. TOWN HALL TO-NIGHT. A real tropical typhoon oilers one of the great moments in Norman Dawn’s “ Typhoon Love,” the Soring D. Wilson Production, which is to be shown at the Town Hall on Wednesday, Woodstock on Thursday and Kokatahi on Friday. The .stof-y deals with an opal mine in the South Sea Islands (and it is worthy of note that the picture was unquestionably filmed in its true locale), owned by Tom and Jack Gordon, and coveted by Captain Morgan, a case-hardened veteran of many a South Sea episode of dubious character. At the outset it would appear that Morgan’s beautiful daughter, June, is an accomplice, which is a facer for Jack Gordon who loves her from the moment he first sees her. How Morgan is foiled in his attempts to get the mine makes for excellent entertainment, and the plot supplies many opportunities for spectacular stunts, of which the producer has taken full advantage. Of particular note is a tropical typhoon in all its natural fury, wliidli never could have been manufactured in a studio. Alsb an avalanche which dislodges the promontory of a huge c!ill' and carries it with a linns' into a raging sea. A most excellent cast has been selected to portray the various difficult roles, and includes such wt‘ll known names as T. Rov Barnes. Ruth Clifford, George Fisher and .Mitchell Lewis. The story was written by Norman Dawn, who ai-o personally handled the direction. A Rathe Gazette, Topical Budget and good comedy complete a fine programme.
