[Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.] SWISS EPIDEMIC. GENEVA. Jan. 11. The influenza in Switzerland continues to he serious, though the deaths are chiefly confined to children or aged people. The deaths include an Australian hoy. Henry Moreton. of Brisbane. There are 6.847 influenza patients at Basle alone. LONDON, Jan. 11. Tn response to many requests, and notably from the United States and from Australia, a wireless medical bulletin will be circulated throughout the world from Geneva by the League of Nations, says flu; “Daily Chronicle ’ giving the latest tacts about the influenza epidemic that is sweeping over Europe. EURO PI? A N DEATH RATE. WELLINGTON, Jan. 11. The A! inistor of Health on Friday cabled to the High Commissioner asking him to consult the British Ministry of Health and cable advice as to the distribution and extent of the epidemic and whether the cases were of the 1918 pandemic type, or the type such as New Zealand experienced recently, more particnlaily in J92J and 1920. The following reassuring message has (been received :

“The figures for Denmark, Norway. Sweden. Germany and Hungary, show no noteworthy increase but increases are reported from France and Switzerland. There were 35 deaths in Paris during the fortnight ended December 26th. In Switzerland there was a large increase of cases from .OKI to 410 for the same period but there weie few deaths. In England and Wales there have as yet been no outbreaks of any magnitude, hut as usual at this time of the year, colds are fairly prevalent. Though the death returns total 106 in the great towns, they are not of a serious nature. The type so far shows no resemblance to that oT 191 S. The mortality is mainly confined to people of advanced age.”
