The resort is an ideal place for holiday makers, and, rdwing, bathing, walking, climbing, and other forms of recreation always being popular with visitors. Some little attention is needed to the road, however, especially where widening works are in progress and for the safety of traffic the road should be left shipshape and safe for wheel traffic overnight or covering the week ends. It would be a guide and a convenience for strangers, also, if a notice were posted near the works that the road section is under repair. Unusual interest attached last week to a wedding celebrated at Rotomanu, firstly, because the bride Miss Janet Yallanee, is a niece of Sir Harry and Lady Lauder; secondly, she was the first bride to be married in the new church at Rotomanu and on that account, she was presented with a Bible. She is the oldest daughter of Air and Mrs Yallanee, Rotomanu, and was given away bv her father. The bridegroom was Mr F. Brion of Wellington and the officiating minister was the Rev. T. N. Cuttle, of Greymouth. The bride wore a dress of georgette trimmed with silver lace and an under dress of white satin; also a veil and a wreath in orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet. Miss Mary Yallanee. the bridesmaid, wore an apricot crepe do chine dress with a black hat and she carried a bouquet. The bride’s travelling dress was of dark plum coloured repp trimmed with fawn and a black hat.

The death occurred yesterday morning at the Grey River Hospital ot Mr Albert AAT'liams (brother of Air b. Williams. Alayor of Brunner), late ot Timaru. and formerly of Brunner, at tfie age of 45 years. He only arrived on a holiday visit to bis relatives and entered the hospital on Saturday evening in consequence of an attack ot blood poisoning in the head. Alcldrum S.AL, Thomas William Todd, quarryman, was charged with having carnally known bis daughter 14 years of age, on divers dates at Christchurch nml Greymouth. Medical evidence was given by Dr AA' J. Afeßrearty. Evidence was also given by the giri. Sergeant J. Smytlic and Detective H. C. A lurch. Tn answer to the Afagistratc the accused had nothing to say and pleaded guilty. JTe was committed for sentence at the next sitting of the Supreme Court in March. Detective Afurch said that be bad no objection to accused being admitted to bail in order to support bis family in tlio meantime. His AVovsliip said that the accused had made no obstruction to the proceedings and agreed to allow Kul for £lO9 on self and two sureties oT £SO each.
The dance at the Soldiers’ Hall last evening conducted by Air !'. Smiths Jazramba. hand, of Christchurch, was attended by a numerous liming. I'm floor was crowded throughout the evening, the attraciivo music of the band 'assuring a full floor lor every item. Several novelties were introduced. and a very jolly time was passed by those present, the dance, being voted it great success. The general arrangements were all that could be desired. ATr Bleach officiated as At.C. In the annexe the Charleston found several votaries experimenting in the intricate steps of the latest dance feature. The hand went south to-day. and return on Friday when by special request they will render a dance programme in the evening at the Woodstock hall.
