The weather was fine and the wicket good. The Richardson brothers got together for. the second wicket, and set the pace. AA’hon A ictor Richardson went. Pritchard helped Arthur Richardson, to carry on lit a lively pace. The latter played a punishing, hut lucky game. He was missed when 46 and again after passing the century. He also gave a chance of being run out. He hatted For 209 minutes, and he iiit twelve fours and one six. The other batsmen made il poor showing against the bowling of Eox and O’Brien. . Heavy rain has been continuing since lust night, which makes the outlook for continuance of play parlous.
BONUS FOR AUSTRALIANS. SYDNEY, Jan. 9.
The Cricket Board of Control continued its meeting on Saturday. It was decided that the members of'thei last team that toured England be granted a bonus of £250 each, including the manager, Fill- Sydney Smith, with an additional £SO for the latter, in order to enable him to purchase a suitable memento of appreciation of his services as honorary secretary. From the profits of the tour, £4o<>O will be divided equally between the six Suites. All matters relating to rue game itself such as the eight ball over and the arilinging of future visits to England, were deferred until the next meeting, three months hence. It was decided that in future the teams going to England shall consist of I fifteen men, and shall be given a fixed remuneration, with no bonus at the end 1 of the tour. AYELIXGTOX. Jan. 10. The weather is again fine for the third dav of the special match. Auckland v. Wellington. Rollings (34) and Christophersou (33) resumed Wellington’s innings with a total of LO. The innings closed for 487. Wilson took 3 for 60, Dacre 3 for 2, Matheson 0 for 86, Player 0 for 97. Cooper 0 for 107, Scott 1 for 60. Smenton 0 for 12, Mills 0 for 6. Auckland in the second innings at lunch had lost 1 for6l,
