AVELLINGTON. January 3
A nine-year-old boy, Patrick Albert Tuohy. who was playing around the .Lyttelton Ferry AVliarf at AVellington shortly after -I p.m. yesterday, fell into the water and was drowned. It llias not been clearly established how lie got into the water. He was wearing a bathing suit and apparently tried to swim to safety. Respiration was tried, unsuccessfully, when the body was recovered . MOTOR ACCIDENT. AVELLINGTON, Jan. 2. AVilli irn \\ ardock and ins two i terx, Berks, aged six years, and Ruth, aged 18 months were admitted to the hospital to-day, injured as tlio result of n motor car going over a 30 feet bank near Vogel town. A ArouXTAIN EXPERIENCE. CHRISTCHURCH, January 3. A young mountaineer, Roger Chester ol Matsons Road, Papnnui, met with an accident on Thursday which though not serious meant a very trying experience. He with a companion, Ivan Tucker, joined a party that set out to Climb Alouiit Kolleston but the top being hidden with mist it was decided to make towards Hannan Pass. At a height of 3000 feet, Chester was traversing a single face and starting a slide was crushed between two large stones, a piece of flesh of the calf of one leg being torn away. First aid was rendered by one of the parly and then the slow journey back started. 1 lie river bad to be crossed five times in a twenty-mile return to the old Most Coast road. There they fortunately met a motorist who convoyed them to Arthurs Pass and the wound was treated by a medical man. Chester is making good progress.

YOUNG AVOAIAN DROWNED. AVELLIGTON. Jan. 2. A young woman aged 22. named Douglas, was drowned in tho Hutt River at the Maori Bank, a spot dangerous for bathing. A life huov was placed in the vicinity, hut it had been removed. A DIVING TRAGEDY. AUCKLAND. Jan. 2 Percy AVarbriek, aged -ID, a married man. residing in Auckland, sustained a fracture of the skull through (living on lo submerged ricks at Rangitoto Island, yesterday. Ho died at tho hospital Ibis afternoon. .
WOMAN'S BODY FOUND. WELLIGTON, 'Jan. 2. The body of Emily Agnes Owen, aged 16. a married resident of Petone. was found in the harbour at, •> o’clock this morning.
WATERSIDERS’ FATAL FALL CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 2
Robert Roder was found in an unconscious state at the foot of a flight of stairs leading into the basement of the Lyttelton Fire Brigade Station. He was removed to his home, hut medical examination discovered a fracture of the skull and he was taken to the Chrisctlrureli Hospital. He died at 1.30 on Saturday morning. Deceased was a single waterside worker.
INFANT’S DEATH. AUCKLAND, Jan. 2. The infant son of Mr and Mrs C. W. Stewart, of Wellington, died at sea during the voyage of the Aorangi from Vancouver. The body was buried at sen. JUBTUEE ENDS. WESTPORT, .Tan. 3. The Westport Jubilee on Saturday evening concluded after a- great, week of celebrations. Oil Now A ear’s Eve the residents of the (own and surrounding districts fairly lot themselves go in a carnival on the Main Street, under a beautiful canopy of electric lights. Some thirty cars conveyed the old resident's to Charleston where photos were taken of Old Charlestonians and an address was given bv Mr P. .T. O'Rcgan.
