Luckily there was little wind mlr rwise the firemen would have been unable to save other big business and r^siflent ial premises surrounding, which they did after ft hard fight Some were damaged bv falling debris and water. The police had much difficulty in keeping in check groat crowds and Sunday loiterers. The damage is roughly estimated in the vu.ini;.' of £150,000 stening.
