FISHING AT ROTORUA.
AUCKLAND, September 1.0. Strong exception to legislation passed during the recent session governing trout fishing in the Rotorua Acclimatisation District was taken by Mr C. A. Whitney, president of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society. The new regulations come into force on October Ist, the opening dnv of the trout fishing season, and Mr Whitney, stated there was no justification for the action of the Government. It was very unfair to Auckland, which had in the past slocked the Taupo and Rotorua lakes. , Under the now regulations a special license had to be taken out to fish nt Rotorua, whereas previously a person holding a license issued by the Auckland Society was able to fisli anywhere in the Dominion. The only tilling they could do now was to try to prevent fishermen with a license for Rotorua making use of it in the Auckland district. LEAGUE DISPUTE. AUCKLAND. Sept. 20. The final of 'the knock-out competition for the Myers Cup. between Whitiora and Frankton League teams was played at Hamilton on Saturday. About twenty minutes before the end of the game, when Whitiora were leadjng by 12—7 a dispute occurred, and a Frankton player was ordered off. A couple of minutes later, another F'rnnkloii player followed. There was a good deal of argument, and the whole of the Frankton team walked off. The trophy was awarded to Whitiora,
