RAILWAY COMMISSIONER’S ; REPORT. SYDNEY, Sept. 21. | The Railway Commissioner's report Htnted the increased payments of salaries under the basic wage, and varions Court Awards, and the introduc- t tion of the fortv-four hour week represented a total increase during the year ' of £686,195. The railway net earnings which show a return on the capital invested of £4 6s per cent, increased by £169,.180, but working exjkm isos increased by £680.397 and interest by £462,881. ( 44-HOUR WEEK REFUSED. BRISBANE, Sept. 21. The Board of Trade refused the application of the building trades to grant them a forty-hour week. Tin trade claimed as they bad already beer, working 44 hours, when other workers' hours were reduced from 48 to 44. they should have a corresponding reduction. The Board stated the legislature could not be assumed to have intended a general all-round reduction, or it would have specially said s-g. EMPIRE DELEGATION. BRISBANE.
