RIFLE SHOOTING.
HOKITIKA MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. The weekly shoot of the above Club was held in the Soldiers’ Hall hist evening when 30 men and 0 ladies shot. In the absence of the President, Air Drummond presented last week’s prizes and commented briefly on the value of shooting as a snort and an art. He said in these times men never knew when their country needed them and being a good shot was an asset to the Empire. He congratulated the ladies on the splendid manner in which they had come forward and joined the Club, and said it was intended that the ladies have a separate night but lie personally believed this should not be so. as shooting was one of the few pastimes in which both women and men could combine. Tbc success of the Club depended on the way members attended each shoot and if the ladies were there it was 'an added attraction for tho men. In conclusion, he asked the ladies’ winner (Aliss A. Thompson) and gent’s winner (Air L. Spencer) to come forward and receive Ike prizes.
In reply Air Spencer thanked Air Drummond for tho kind remarks he had expressed and trusted that when he shot for the next prize that he would haw a hard fight to get it. The best scores were:—S.
