Three English missionaries at AA’uiihsien are held by the Chinese troops who occupied the China Inland Mission in AVanshsien and adopted a threatening attitude in view of the approach of tho naval expedition. Three British Customs officers and the British postmaster at AVansshien succeeded in escaping to Ichang. The names of the missionaries nrc not yet known, as communicatin has been cut olf.
