ADDINGTON STOCK SALES. RISE IN BEEF, MUTTON STEADY. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Alessrs H. Alatson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday : Store Sheep.—The entry was hardly as large as last week and comprised, a larger proportion of ewes and lambs, mostly small lots of aged ewes, hut the lambs generally were good and prices all round about Is (id above last sale. Best ewes and lambs to 15s lOd all counted; others to 10s lid. Very few ewes in lamb offered and being unattractive were hard to sell. Best crossbred ewes hoggets 23s Sd to 2Gs 9d ; halfbred ditto to 27s lOd; three-quarter bred wether hoggets 23s 8d ; others 18s to 21s (id; besi forward wethers to 27s • medium 23s to 25s Oil; backward three-quarter ditto 20s Id. The market was much firmer.
Store Cattle.—A small yarding and as usual mostly nondescript lots. One small pen of yearling steers £3 7s (id; ditto heifers £2 17s; no other quotable lines.
Beef.—3s2 were yarded and the quality generally showed an improvement all round. The market opened firmer for all sorts and continued so throughout . showing an average of 25s to 30s per each especially for prime quality. Alodium weight, prime steers £l3 10s to CIS.; extra to Cl 9 17s fid; medium £ll 15s to £l3 ss; others to £9 ss. Prime heifers £lO 15s to £l3; extra to £l4 2s (id ; medium £8 15s to £lO ss; others to £7. Prime cows £lO to £ll 10s; extra to £l4 7s (id ; medium £7 15s to £9 10s ; others to £5. Pigs.—Porkers, a small yarding and prices very firm at late rates. Values, light porkers 50s to 65s ; heavy 68s to 795; average lO.ld to lid. Baeoiiers, a small entry and keen competition for light and heavy weight haconers selling at late rates. Extra heavy improved in price. Values: Light haconers £4 10s to Cos fid ; heavy £5 10s to £6 10s; extra £6 10,s to £8; average lOd to 10 Ml.
Store Pigs.—Quite a largo entry and good prices wero realised throughout, even though prices eased somewhat over the latter stages, lvalues : Weanors very small 18s to 245; better sorts 26s to 345; extra to 30s; slips 38s to 435; medium 45s to 50s; large 54s to 645.
ALittoii.—A similar sized yarding to last week and the quality generally was excellent. A larger proportion of ewes than lately. The market opened firm and if anything improved as it progressed and showed a further advance on last week of Is and Is fid per head. AVost Coast and country butchers were again operating freely. Prime wethers 33s to 375: extra to 39s lOd, medium 29s -fid to 37s fid ; others to 27s fid. Prime ewes 2fis fid to 31s fid; extra, to 34s 10d ; medium 23s fid to 265; others to 19s fid.
