At the annual meeting of the Council of the nonunion Bowling Association. .1. W. Harley presiding, appointed A. It. Coltman, Secretary and J. Mayer of Taranaki to the vacancy or. the Council. The annual report slated 288 clubs were registered with a membership of lb.l 19. The year closed with a credit of £l2O, assets of £(ibl Id Id and liahilitcs of £5 us. The headquarters of the Association will be Auckland this season.
Mr Mcadowcroft, (Wellington) spoke strongly against overseas bowlers taking part in Dominion tournaments, as extending the play unduly and interfering with intcr-provincral play. Auckland members of the Bowling Council were elected an executive committee lor the incoming year. A remit from South Canterbury that till stamps for bowl testing, prior to 1921. be declared llegal, was withdrawn in favour of one from Christchurch that all bowls hearing the Association stamp prior to 1924 must be re-tested. This evoked considerable discussion during which the point was emphasised that uniformity should be arrived at. The remit was finally adopted by unanimous vote with a stipulation that the remit should become operative from April floi.li. 1027
It was decided to open the annual Dominion tournament on .January lOtli. The order of play was fixed as follows* : Singles. January 10th. and lltli.; rinks, January 12th. ]3th. 14th. and loth; pairs, January 17th. and 18th. It was decided to play singles and pairs on the same system as flint adopted at last Dominion tournament. The ninnies will consist of 21 heads, with the twolife system. In the pairs the players will got at least fire games of 21 heads and the post section play will he on. the suddendeath principle. It was decided to play three' games a day in the rinks competition. The date for the closing of entries for the tournament was fixed for December 11th. If was decided to provide a shield as a trophy for the Dominion howling championship to take the place of the championship banner hitherto used. The suggestion that the last winners ot the hanner in Dunedin should retain the trophy was adopted.
