MATAINUI NOTES
(From a Correspondent) Mr W. Stopforth paid a business dll to tile residents displaying some of the latest men’s requirements. Mr Bitty, of Greymouth. has also been doing the flat in search of business in the motor line. Air Morrison and his gang have gone down the Wataroa to survey a road from there to the Little Wanganui. A very pleasant, evening was spent here last Saturday, the occasion being a farewell to Mr Tonkin (Dalgety’s representative) who has been transferred to another district. Alessrs Nolan. Mcßride. Smith and McQueen contributed several songs whilst Airs duller officated at the piano. Air McQueen Ids successor was welcomed to the district. Air AY. Jeffries. County Chairman, passed through last I uesdav on his way to Jackson’s Bay. He was accompanied by Afr AHUiier. County Overseer. The work being done by the County on the roads is progressing favourably. About another week or fortnight should see it completed.
