It is extremely difficult to learn the exact situation, because General Do Rivera lias suppressed all liberty of action among the newspapers . Officially tlie Double is stated to be over, and tbe ring-leaders are to stand their trial before the Supreme War Council immediately. Though the honours rest for the momenfwith Director Prime. Dc Rivera, who has quelled the tumult with an iron glove,- hundreds of apprehensive Spaniards .ire fleeing to France. In a brief space to-day. between Sail Sebastian and 1 run (the last town on the Spanish side of the frontier) 175 motor cars were counted heading for France. King Alfonso is expected to return to San Sebastian in a day or two. In the meantime, the. bullfights are in full swing again. MADRID. Sept. 7. King Alfonso presided at an important meeting of the Council of Ministers. at which the Director, General Dc Rivera, notified the submission of all Artillery organisations. Tile Director (llso announced that Military Courts had already boon opened for the purpose of establishing the responsibility. Ifiio King lias signed a decree authorising the War Ministry to apply and to supplement a promotion decree. REBELLIOUS SPIRIT. LONDON, Sept. 7. The “Daily News” Biarritz correspondent- reports that nrmy officers are indignant at King Alfonso s change of front to support General de Rivera, thus causing the King’s position to be precarious. A spirit of rebellion exists in the army and navy. King Alfonso and General de Rivera now have tlieir Ricks to the wall. General Berenguer vacated his office on September 2nd as Head of the King’s Household, having held it for a few hours. Disturbances are reported in the country. A garrison of artillerymen engaged in a conflict with some reservists sent to replace them at Valladolid. Six artillerymen were killed. Troops and syndicates are reported to be fighting in Barcelona. Warships have arrived at Sail Sebastian.
