TRY FOR NORTH POLE. PARIS, Sept. G. The French Naval Lieut. Druiis, will shortly try to reach the North Pole hy means of motor sledges and two small forty horse power aeroplanes. The expedition will probably leave Havre for pt. Barrow, Aslaska, on Sept. 16th.
GERMAN PAYMENTS. LONDON, September 7. An official statements shows Germany’s reparation payments were 1060 million gold marks, ol which Britain received 226,687,000. INQU EST EVIDENCK. (Received this day at 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 7. At the inquest on the Drurncolloghcr victims, Fordo (owner of the picture plant) gave evidence that lie used an unprotected projector among the audience. The films were taken out of their metal cases, lying exposed on a table where there was a naked candle. He liad no fire quenching apparatus, (file operator (Downing) gave evidence that someone hit the flames with a cap. causing the fire to spread to film adjoining. The film showing at the time of the outbreak was entitled “The Ten Commandments.”
