A German, Vierkotter, swam the English Channel in 12 hours 42 minutes, starting from Capo Grisnc/, at 1.35 in the morning ami landing at South Foreland light. lie was the sixth man to succeed since 1875. lie creates a new record, The previous best was Tirabsclii in 1923, whose time was sixteen hours 38 minutes. Vierkotteu was Accompanied by n French tug. motor boat, and rowing boat. The .sea was choppy near the end.
