FOOTBALL.
WEST COAST RUGBY UNION. EXECUTIVE MEETING. The usual executive meeting of the above' Union was held last evening at Greymouth. Ivokatahi Club advised tlieir inability to field a team in the Union’s new senior competition, owing to travelling difficulties. The letter was received. It was decided to negotiate with the Empire Hotel for board of players whilst on tour in Canterbury, and to advise the Canterbury Union that the team would arrive in Christchurch on Thursday evening. 9th September, and leave for Ashburton on Tuesday morning, 14th September.' A wire was received from Westland Sub-Union asking ruling re the status of a. senior player, and it was resolved that the Sub-Union be notified that any player who has not already played in two senior competition games is eligible to play in the junior grade. Resolved that the senior competition be for one round. The following is the draw for the one round : Kanicri v. Excelsiors (played) ; Stars v. United (to play atjcncl of round) : Kanicri v. United, at Greymouth, 28111 August; Stars v. Excelsiors. at Hokitika, 28th August; United v} Excelsiors, at Hokitika, 4tli September; Stars v. Kanicri. at Greymouth, 4th September. Resolved that Air H. Holmes be captain and Air AlcEnanoy vice-captain of Grey team to 'play Merivale ( lub next Saturday. Fixtures were laid down for next Saturday as follows: Seniors. —Stars v. Excelsiors, at Hokitika, at 3 p.m. (AD- Coulson) ; Kanieri v. United, at 3 p.m., B. Ground. Junior Rep. Match, Merivale (Cliristelnireh) v. Grey, A Ground, at 3 p.m., (AD- J. D. Cullen referee).
