A conference was held this morning between Manawatu-Ormm River, Board and thirteen local bodies, cited h.v it to appear before a commission set up to determine the basis of contribution towards the Board’s £450,000 control scheme. It was mentioned at the conference which took the form of a round table talk, that 70.000 acres ot land were affected and that he scheme provided for shortening the length of Manawatu river from Longhorn bridge to-the sea by over thirty miles. Replying to questions the Chairman of the Board said the State would have to nav £250,000 to enable the execution of the project, various features of which were discussed at length.
