Labour and political circles take a gloomy view in regard to the prospects of the coal settlement. It is uncertain whether there will he. a general drift hack to work even if the miners in many districts conclude district agreements, in response to fairly generous terms. The useless process must occupy weeks. It is considered the solo hope of an early general termination ot the stoppage lies in the reassembling of Parliament on 30th August. Its business is to confirm the emergency regulations but there is no doubt time will he given for a general discussion of the coal situation.
