the House and read a first time. The Council decided not to insist upon the amendments In the Oil in Teririorial Waters Bill with which tho House had disagreed. The Christchurch District Drainage Amendment Bill was read a second time without a discussion. flic Samoa Amendment Bill. Industrial Societies Amendment Bill were put through the final stages and passed. Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Rill was reported without amendment I and the third reading deferred. The Summer Time Bill was put through the Committee stage, without amendment, the third reading being set down for Wednesday. The Council rose at 4.45 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. on Fuosdav. ttif house. The House met at 2.30. It was decided to sit on Aloud iv

evening. After a lengthy debate, the second reading of the Town .Planning Bill was read a second time. New Zealand University Amendment Bill was also read a second time. Public Revenues Bill was reported from the Committee with minor amendments and read a third time. On the Town Planning Bill, Mr Harris sought to postpone its date of coming into operation for a year, but on discussion this was defeated by 53 to 3. The Bill was reported from the Committee without amendment, read a third time and passed. The House rose at 1.00 a.m. till 7.30 p.m. on Monday.
