AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. [Australia & N.Z. Cable Assoo.ation. BRISBANE, August 19. The Decathlon Championship in connection with the fifteenth biennial gathering of the Amateur Athletic Union of Australia and New Zealand was won by M. Kroger (Victoria), Spicer (New South Wales) gained second place from Keskincr (Queensland) by four points, which is remarkably close. Shirley, of New Zealand, who held fourth position at the conclusion of the first day of the Decathlon, retired after the first event at the exhibition to-day. The only event in which he competed to-day was the 110 metres hurdles, his time being sixteen seconds. Spicer in this event secured the best time of fifteen and three-fifths seconds. Moore (South Australia) retired after the hurdle and discus events. The, grand totals for the Decathlon are as follow: Kroger (Victoria) 6306.766 points; Spicer (New South Wales) 5750.032; Keskiner (Queensland) 5740.001; Beats (Queensland) 4110.991; Shirley (New Zealand) 3705.607; Moore (South Australia) 3028.497. At the conclusion of the Decathlon championship, some heats in the championships to lie decided on Saturday were run off. No New Zealanders competed in these events. Tn the 220yds championship, first heat, Grehan (Queesland) defeated Mills (Queensland) by four yards in 24 4-5 secs: Tn the second heat, Parker (Queensland) defeated Minn (New South Wales comfortably in 22 1-5 secs. Tn the 880yds championship, first heat resulted: Glynn (South Australia) 1. Whyte (Victoria) 2; Frcnzcn (Queensland) 3. Won by inches in 1.58 4-5. Second heat.—-Carroll (Victoria) 1, Thomson (Queensland) 2; Norman (N.S.W.) 3. Won by a yard in 2.2 1-5. 440yds hurdles, first heat.—Brookes (South' Australia) defeated Taylor (Queensland) by five yards in 59 2-5 sees. In the second heat a Victorian defeated Hawkins (Queensland) by ten yards in 58 4-5 secs.
