FOOTBALL.

WEST COAST RUGBY UNION. The usual- weekly meeting was held last evening at Greymouth. Westland Sub-Union wrote liominatjn .T Excelsiors, Kanieri and Kokatahi Clubs in the Union’s Senior competition. Resolved that the present senior competition be declared off, and that- a new competition be immediately constituted between the five senior clubs. Resolved to suggest to the Westland Sub-Union that the competition be one round knock-out, and asking them for confirmation before the senior match next Saturday.

Resolved to challenge the Golden Bay Union for the Seddon Shield, and

asking for the match to bo played on 25th. September. The schools Football Committee advised that the final of the Primary Schools’ Shield will be played in Greymouth between Grey State and Reefton D.H. School on 18th. September, which was approved.

Resolved that the senior clubs be circularised asking them to state definitely what players are available from their Clubs to go on the CanterburySouth Canterbury tour.

Resolved to apply to tlie Railway Department) to nut on a special train to Canterbury on September 11th., on the occasion of the Coast v. Canterbury match, returning the same evening.

Fixtures were laid down for, next Saturday as follows: Seniors—lnangahua v. Greymouth at 3 p.m. A. ground; Excelsiors v. Kanieri at Hokitika.

The following team has been selected by Mr A. Adams to represent Grey against. Inangahua on Saturday : Goodall, Reynolds, Walls, Gibbons, Jamieson, Mosley. Walton, Jamieson, Bell, Charteris, Burley, Langbien, Dawson, Dodson, Turtill. Bmerg. (not necessarily in order)—backs, Lamberton and Bunt; forwards—Caulton, Dennehv.
