MEXICO CITY, Aug. 14
Tli Mayor, Senor Carlos Gamboa and the. entire Board of Aldermen, numbering fourteen of the town of Tecsuba near here,(have been gaoled, after a political battle was fought; in. which one man was killed and another injured. The aldermen were divided into two factions. One faction declared Gamboa deposed, but the Mayor refused to agree, and the insurgents went into his home to arrest him. A battle ensued, citizens.joining in tho fray. Attacks by armed bands of agrarians are now reported in Atznlana, Orizaba and Vera Cruz. The State and Federal troops, however, are routing the hands before they are able to loot anv towns. WASHINGTON, Aug. 13. The United States Secretary o f State, Mr Kellogg, lias to-day received a petition from the Knights of Columbus, asking for American diplomatic intervention in the sloxican religious controversy. Afterwards sfr Kellogg said that he had no statement to make. It is probable the Secretary of State will discuss the problem with President Coolidge before making a pronouncement on his own policy.
