SCENE AT COUNCIL. PARIS, Aug. 10
The stage was set at the Versailles Palace this morning, for the brilliant dignified, and historic meeting of tho National Assembly. The old Opera Hall had been specially prepared for the occasion. It was lighted by electricity.
The public galleries were crowded, those present including many diplomats and many fashionably attired society w omen; but as soon as the proceedings opened the Communists and extremist Socialists turned the meeting into a bear garden. When M. Selves, the President of the Senate, read the agenda, pandemonium broke out. The Communists rose in their places, banged the desks, and continued an ) uproar practically throughout the proceedings. They whistled, hooted and shouted, “Fire! Fire 17 “To the madhouse !” “Long live re-action !”
