The Alcxican Department of the Interior announces that all the Catholic Church “annexes” (except actual places of worship), and also all the churches’ valuables are placed under Government sieaf, throughout Alexico until the present controversy is settled. Tho persons arrested on charges of plotting against the life of President C'alles have now been discharged for lack of evidence.
BRITISH R EPRESENTATIIOXS. MEXICO CITY, Aug. 10. The British Alinister here, Air Ovcv has declined to discuss, and has refused to confirm or deny reports that he has made diplomatic representations to Alexico over the British—Alexican treaty of amity and commerce, guaranteeing religious ministers freedom to * exercise their, ministry in Alexico. This treaty expires in December. Alexico months ago said she would not' renew it. - * It is unofficially understood that discussions between the two Governments over the treaty renewing will hoi undertaken in London between the foreign office and the Alexican minister.
