THE ROYAL TOUR.

It is explained that the changed plans for the Duke and Duchess of Turk’s visit to Australia are due to a desire to avoid the heat of the Australian summer. It is expected that extensive alterations to tho “Renown” will he necessary. THK ROYAL TOUR. (Received this day at 9.0 a.m.'. LONDON, Aug. 8.
It is learned in official circles that it has been decided 11.M.5. Renown shall be used for tho Duke of York’s tour, provided always that the Admiralty is able to give effect to the decision. The Admiralty state at present the matter is under discussion. Any statement or decision is premature. It is understood that official announcements may lie expected towards the end of the week. The final arrangements will be adjusted in harmony with the desire expressed by all parties concerned that the visit should, in every sense, he a Royal visit throughout. It has been the desire in Royal and other circles that the visit should afford a full opportunity of demonstrating the reality of Imperial relations, including the potency of the British Navy, which will lie happily illustrated by the association of the famous battle cruiser with the visit. The Dominions and New Zealand Governments have been approached in connection with the visit, but there has not yet been time for a definite decision in connection with Unchanged plans.
THE YORKS’ ROUTE. (Received this day at 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 8. Tho majority of the London newspapers, together with news agencies published from correspondents in Australia, the change in plans for the Duke of York’s visit, and also expressions of the disappointment felt in Australia, in connection therewith. It is indicated from these announcements that' -the Australian 'Government is aware that the Yorks will travel iu 11.M.5. Renown, calling at Fremantle, Adelaide and Hobart, going thence to NenvZoaland and returning to Eastern Australia for the purpose of officially
opening Canberra. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Melbourne correspondent states that the changes of the route were confirmed in Australia, adding that the official announcement was expected simultaneously in Australia and England during the weekend.
Meantime official circles in London neither confirm nor deny the changes. It is assumed they are awaiting the official declaration.
