ROSS RAILWAY EXTENSION. Mr Seddon (Westland) asked the Minister of Public Works, whether the Government will consider favourably the proposal of a substantial vote for the extension of the railway south oi Ross to the point already authorized by Parliament? REPLY. Tlie Hon Air Williams (Minister of Public Works) replied, the matter will receive consideration when the public works estimates are under review. COMPLETION OF WAIHO BRIDGE. Mr Seddon (Westland) asked the Minister of Public Works, whether the erection of the Wailio River Bridge, South Westland, can be so expedited as to ensure the completion of the bridge for traffic during next summer season; or, failing that, whether it can he indicated how soon the structure will be ready for vehicle traffic to tap the district south of the Wailio River? REPLY. 'Hie Hon Air Williams (Alinister of Public Works) replied, the bridge over the Wailio River, South Westland, is expected to he completed in February next, given reasonable weather conditions. Considerable difficulty lias been experienced in connection witli work owing to unfavourable weather, so that an earlier date than that given for completion cannot reasonably ho quoted. TOURIST EXPENDITURE IN WESTLAND. Air Seddon (Westland) asked the Alinister in Charge of the Tourist and Health Resorts Department, whether in framing tho estimates for the current year the Department can make more liberal provision for tho openinglip of the tourist resorts in Westland in keeping with the large expenditure provided for annually in other centres winch are not so favourably endowed as Westland with natural resorts, but still more highly favoured with Government expenditure ? REPLY. The Hon Mr Nosworthy (Minister in Charge of the Tourist and Health Resorts Department) replied, the honourable gentleman may rely on Westland receiving fair treatment at tbc hands.. of the Tourist Department in any matter which comes within its scope.
