The Coaclunakers Unions, on behalf of members who are employees of tbe Railway Commissioners, lodged claims asking, inter alia:—For a thirty-six hour week; for the painters, an increase in wages by twenty-five per cent; and forty-four hour week lor members engaged in carriage and waggon building and carriage trimming. swan river flood. The Chamber of Manufacturers is arranging an exhibition of manufactured products during tbe visit of the Duke of York, which, it is stated, will eclipse any similar exhibitions in the Southern Hemisphere.
