FOOTBALL.

[Australia & N.Z. Cable Association.] HIGH PRAISE FOR ALL BLACKS. (Received this day nt 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 21. The “Herald” commenting on the All Blacks match, says the visiting forwards were, as usual, in great form, but the Blacks gave a vastly superior display to that seen in the previous matches. Th e passing was delightfully crisp. The only fault was that frequently players .overran the hall or passed forward. Had this not been so. the margin in the visitor.s'favour might have been considerably greater. They again had a distinct advantage in securing tho ball from scrums, and a fine understanding between Mill and Nic,bolls, and Mill and Porter, kept tlie local backs in an anxious frame of mind. The skill with which New Zealand initiated attacking movements was an outstanding feature. On each occasion that one of their number received thq hall, he was immediately supported by his comrades anxious to share in the advances. Mill, Cooko and Elvey were again prominent. Porter is a. great general. His sense of anticipating, to quote an onlooker, is uncanny. The visiting vanguard did 1 well in every match.

For the home team Ross played superbly. Tho remainder of the home backs were disappointing. The “Daily Telegraph” says that starting off with great dash, the Now Zealanders played all over the opposition, throwing the hall about brilliantly. and Hi rilling the crowd with some great passing bouts. The line of sweeping jerseys appeared to he irresistible. Again and again it battled its way towards the New South Wales citadel, and it was not the good defence which kept out the Blacks, hut their own impetuosity. Twice certain tries wero missed after all opposition was overcame owing to forward passes.
