- EVERYEODYS PICTURES. “SQUIBS, AI.P.” TO-NIGHT. Betty Balfour as the heroine of tin new .Master Picture, “Squibs, M.P.’ not only pleads in Parliament foi babies instead of battleships, but practices what she preaches hv running a philantrophie milk business in a pool neighbourhood. The dairy scenes in the film, with Betty handling out smiles and kisses—as well as eggs, butter and milk—to countless babies, some clean and some otherwise, collected from the Islington district, are a popular touch, and Betty’s obvious relish of her job is sure to win the admiration of womenfolk. And if they say—as they certainly will—“lsn’t she kind,” they will he nearer the mark than they imagine, for Miss Balfour is generous even to prodigality, ns many of the folk and children in the vicinity of the studio know. Do your wonder they idolise her! I remember, during the heat of the summer seeing Betty drive away from the studio through streets where little fellows sat naked is the doorways. One felt that they had not any, or at any rate, many, clothes to put on, hut we gave them the benefit of the doubt and envied their easy escape from the oppressive warmth. Miss Balfour smiled and waved at them all ns we went slowly by. And it was the mother of one of these little families who christened her Queen of Happiness. Is it necessary to add that hardearned pennies have been saved in those streets to see Betty in “Squibs,” M.P.!’’ Some of Miss Balfour’s little Islington friends are in the picture too. Watch how genuinely they shout “ Vote for Squibs ” in the election scenes, “Squibs, M.P.”. is due at the Princess Theatre to-night. Her last and best adventure, you’ll vote it one of the finest entertainments you’ve over enjoyed. The greatest British comedy picture, better than “Squibs’ Honeymoon”, better than any other picture that Britain’s Queen of Ilnppi ness ever a ppen red in.
