WEST COAST RUGBY UNION. The Committee met at Greymouth last evening. Westland .Timber Workers’ Union wrote requesting that no match for teams .from' sawmill districts be arranged for July 24, the , date of the
Union’s annual meeting. It was decided to reply that, on request of the Lake Brunner Sub-Division for a match on that date, a fixture had been arranged. It was decided to post to the New Zealand Union the name of Richard Davis, a readmitted League player who had reverted hack, wth a request that he be disqualified from the Rugby code.
Pirate Club, Burnett’s .Face, wrote that they were sending a third grade team to the Coast and asked for a game on September 4. It was decided to accept the request, and to ascertain how the team could stand against a Coast fourth grade rep team, and then go into the matter of a guarantee. Nelson Union forwarded particulars of the conference of the Scddon Shield district unions' held to arango for a North Island tour. It was decided to reply that the W.C.R.U. had already completed arrangements for a Canterbury tour, and as the dates clashed, no players would he available here for a northern tour.
South Canterbury Union advised its willingness to play West Coast xm September 18 at Timnru, and the Secretary’s confirmation of this date was
approved. N.Z.R.U. advised a change in the secretaryship. It was decided to’send a letter of appeciation to Air H. E, Combs, retiring secretary, for his good work, and for his treatment of this Union’s delegates and correspondence, and wishing him success in his neu; undertaking. Tt was decided to accede to Buller Union’s request to play the return rep. match here on August 14th, and to tender Buller Union a letter of appreciation of the hospitality extended the West Coast team at Westport recently. Tt was resolved to ask Star Club why G. Brown did not fulfil his obligation to join the rep. team for Buller. after
his selection, and to point out no notification was received as to his not being available. • Messrs Mclntosh, 1. Steel and A. All the New Zealand and New South Wales footballers are now fit with the exception of Bowers, who broke a small bone in his wrist on Saturday. It is expected that both teams to be selected for the second test on Saturday will he much stronger than the first test.
