WARNER’S VIEWS. LONDON. July 11. Warner, wrtiing in the “Morning Post’’ says it is unavoidable that criticism should he levelled at Carr, hut appreciation of the position as itpresented itself to him should he given. Not even the hardest headed Yorkshire man can tell how the Hendingly wicket will play after rain. Then at the close of play I heard it urged that the policy of putting in the Australians was at the moment of decision theoretically sound, though against Australia it was admittedly risky. In actual practice, however, it was a failure. But Carr will be criticised. 1 Had. the chance given by Macartney been accepted it would have altered the game. It was a nasty catch, though Carr seldom misses a catch. It was an unfortunate day for England, but I have endeavoured to put the facts fairly, honestly and in the proper sense of loyalty to our captain. He took a risk, and the policy was unsuccessful, and there is nothing more to be said.
