LONDON, July* 8. The New Zealand heavyweight boxer. Tom Heeney, in a twenty rounds contest, defeated Toni Berry on points. The contest was fast and .strenuous throughout, and the tight was mostly at close quarters. Heeney had a stone advantage in weight, and his heavy blows shoolc the Englishman in the earlier rounds. Berry improved later on, but lis blows lacked the power of those of his opponent. The concluding rounds wore exciting. JOE BECKETT HURT. LONDON, July 8. .Too Beckett, who should meet Phil Scott for the heavyweight championship of Britain, at Southampton Football Ground next Saturday, fell heavily on the floor when shadow boxing and tore the muscle in the calf of lis leg. He will he unable to appear on Saturday. Toni Heeney, the New Zealand heavyweight lias consented to act as substitute for Beckett. (Received this dav at S a.m.) SYDNEY, July 10. At Leichhardt Stadium Norkey Fowler defeated Reg Trowern (New Zealand) on points in a fifteen rounds contest. Fowler led 'throughout and was never troubled, the New Zealander being an easy mark for him.
