EVERYBODYS PIOTURES. “HEW I’S LAS"J’ STAND”—TO-NIGHT Jo-night at tho Princess Theatre the much discussed picture produced in the North island by Jiudall Hayward, dealing with the early history of New Zenland and the Maori War will he presented lor one night only, entitled “Ilewi’s Last Stand.” “An Aucklander has produced a moving picture that places New Zealand on the map,.so lar as the film, world is concerned,” is the opening sentence of an article in the Auckland “Star.” of July 31st last. “The producer is .Mr Rudall Hayward, and the picture is “ Rewi’s hast Stand.” Founded on one of the most conspicuous occasions in the history of the Maori War it brings into this modern metropolis a page out of the stirring times of the ’sixties, when the Maoris fought for wliat was undoubtedly their own property. The most terrible engagement between the natives and the British troops took place at Orakau, where a mere handful of Maoris defied the white soldiers for throe flays, the women fighting in the trenches with the men. That battle is depicted most sensationally in the film. Mr Hayward’s picture has outshone maiiy pictures from the greatest markets. 'Che acting is good, the photography quite excellent, and the sequence flawless.” This great attraction will he shown at the Princess Theatre, to-night.' Usual prices will he charged.
