CRICKET.

SECOND TEST .MATCH. THIRD DAY’S PLAY. ENGLAND’S BIG SCORE. [Reuter Telegrams.] (Received this day at- S a.m.) LONDON, June 29. The weather was fine and hot and tlie wicket wearing well ill the opening stages. The Duke of York was a spectator and the teams were presented to him before the play. Richardson and Gregory opened the attack. Tlie first score was a boundary on drive by Woolley which was uncommonly like a difficult chance to Andrews. They brought up 300 in 310 minutes. Richardson was again difficult, Hendren opened scratchily, while Woolley at fifty-four had a narrow escape of leg before to Richardson, who stifled ail appeal while the umpire Braund’s hand went half up, when both relised that Woolley had made the faintest snick of the ball. Opening slow, Hemlren was unable to got Richardson through tlie field. Woolley while cutting Gregory five times superbly to the boundary had unhappy moments. Gregory was unlucky as lie had Woolley at sixty-seven completely beaten by a stinging ball, which must have gripped the stumps. Hendren was at the wicket twentyfive minutes before lie reopened his acv eount. He then had Gregory for the first time and obtained a cut for four to the leg boundary. Next over from Richardson lie opened out with two to log and followed by a fine cut to the boundary. After Richardson bad sent down five overs for four maidens, Ryder replaced Gregory. The batsmen now began to settle down and the crowd were treated to attractive cricket, Hendren leg cutting in fine style and Woolley, with shots in front of the wicket, but be was beaten by Ryder’s pace when apparently well set.
