At the inquest on Patrick Joseph Leevan, 20, who died after falling from a lorry at New Lynn on June 22th, Samuel French said he was .’.riving a football team hack from a match. Near New Lynn Bridge, be was told a injin had fallen off the back of the lorry. Two men had fallen off, and witness learned Safer that one fell while skylarking. One, was hospitalled and the other, (the deceased) went home. Other evidence showed Leevan was taken to the hospital next day and on operation performed, a clot of blood being removed from the skull. The Coroner found that death occurred from haemorrhage following an accidental fall. No .suggestion of blame was attachable to anyone.

ANOTHER INQUEST. AUCKLAND, June 29. The death of Mistress Eva. Haskell, 19, from injuries sustained when knocked down by a lorry lit New Lynn on June sth. was tile subject of a eornnial inquiry to-day. Owen Courtenay, driver of the lorry, stated at 5 p.m. deceased attempted to cross the road ahead of the lorry. He shouted out to her but the, lorry struck her. He estimated his speed at 12 miles an hour. The Coroner found that death was caused by shock and there was no evidence to suggest the lonw was driven at'nil excessive speed. MAN AT A WRECK FINDING. AUCKLAND. June 29. The Marine Court enquiry into the wreck of the Manaia found the ship went oil Slipper owing to a strong set inshore. The master, Norburv, was bold blameless, and complimented for bis handling of tliri ship after the mishap, the Court also expressing sympathy with him. The Court held that although the third officer could not he blamed for the wreck he was over confident in not calling the master earlier, when he had not sighloi Slipper. Both c-'i tifieates were reill rued.

BURGLARY. DUNEDIN. ,1 une 29. The jewelcry shop of F. lliminel was burgled of about ,CIOO worth of goods on Sunday. Entry was made through a window which was smashed in by an iron bar.
