OBITUARY.
WELLINGTON, June 29. Private advice from Sydney reports the death of Mr J. Ames, who for nearly 60 years was valuer and returning officer for ‘Wellington City Council. He only retired on March 25th.. and left for Sydney on Juno 11th. to obtain the benefit of a milder climate. He was l>orn in Sydney and brought as an infant to New Zealand in 1840. He leaves two sons and a daughter.
