An early start enabled the Australians to reach ! .'Melon to-night, 'ilie wenther was threatening and wicket soft. Storer and Crcsswcll opened the howling. Bardslev was immediately adventurous, the howlers losing control of the ball which was wet from the morning dew. Bardslev reached the century with a characteristic leg gtauco from Storer, his first century of the tour. After reaching tho hundred Bardslev hit out at everything, giving chances at 101 and 101 which were missed through' the wet hall. He went on brightly and hit more forcing shots than previously through the tour. The attendanco was four thousand. Richardson was careful and treated the bowling with more respect than it warranted. Woodfull was forceful, but did not hesitate to leave, the crease.
