THE COAL CRISIS.

(Received this day at 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, June 16It is understood that the mine owners arc preparing a scheme for reopening the pits on an eight hour basis. The Coalfields will, be divided into three categories. Firstly, pits where wages are not induced; secondlv. pits where the reduction is under ten per cent.; thirdly. pits where a reduction, if possible, will not exceed ten per cent. The last named will probably include three export districts of Durham. Northumberland ami South Wales. As many of the pits as possible will be included in the first category. ■
