HOCKEY.

HOCKEY ROW. [by -ELEOHArn —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. [ ATVKLAXD, .Tune 15. A maid sensation was caused at a meeting of the Auckland Hockey Association Executive to-night, when strong exception was taken to a statement made through the press by the Association’s selector, AH L. 0. Kent, The trouble arose over Mr Kent’s statement that' the Association had refused him an A and It trial match. It was pointed out that two dates had been suggested for a match, after the club fixtures, but neither dates had been accepted. A resolution asking for Mr Kent’s resignation was carried by six votes I to four. .Mr Kent is the President of the Association.

A WESTPORT LAMENT. WESTPORT, June 15. General disappointment is expressed in the Buller district that not a single Buller player has been chosen in the hockey team to represent New Zealand. It was generally expected that H. Looker, who brilliantly represented New Zealand on the Australian tour, and who is playing better hockey to-day. would have been selected. The area from Westland right round to Marlborough finds not one representative in either the New Zealand Hockey or the New Zealand Rugby teams, and yet nowhere in the Dominion is the interest, in these games keener than in this extended area.
