TEST CONTESTS. [Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.J LONDON, June 13. Tlie “Daily Express” is featuring a Melbourne telegram stating there is a large body opinion there that future English tours should he declined unless the test matches are played to a finish, «nd it quotes a leading amateur’s opinion that- the games should extend over five days, if not fought out. The county games could be adjusted to meet the change. The “Daily Express” gives statistics showing that nineteen out of forty-sev-en test matches have been drawn in England, and that only two test matches out of G2 have been drawn in Australia.
The “Daily Express” editorially supports more time being given to the tests, and says “The Australian way is far the better It is the height of nonsense to send a picked team 12.000 miles and leave to the uncertain arbitrament of the climate the question of whether the whole tour shall lie inconclusive. The requirements of the county championships ought to he subordinated to the demands of the international contests.”
“Sporting Life” -agrees that the tests ought to lie played to a finish. It declares that the present English arrangement as farcical, and urges that there should be a different arrangement for tho future.
The ‘’'Daily Clionicle” says: “No one will ever persuade ns to have unlimited tests. Indeed, the time influence inspires all that- is bright in the County matches.
