The Commonwealth Government of Australia has notified the League of Nations Maritime Conference that it is doubtful whether the moment lias arrived when tbo time of the Labour Office can usefully ho take up ill considering such a project as the codification of Seamen’s Articles. It. has urged that this should he left to the national laws of the countries to which the ships belong, but if there is to he a convention, it should he confined to the vessels engaged in international trade, leaving the countries to observe general principles in their domestic shipping.
LEAGUE COUNCIL. 'Received this day at 8 a.m.) GENEVA, June 13. The “News” states that Brazil and Spain have withdrawn and that Germany’s entry into the League is regarded as certain in September. The “Sunday Express” diplomatic correspondent suggests Spain’s secession from the League is not unconnected with Morocco. She may return if the present international district of Tangiers is eventually included within her Moroccan zone.
