Rose's style had been highly praised by a local conch, who said his style was excellent. The following were elected to represent New Zealand at the Australian Championships: F. A. Lay (flawera), javelin; J. W. Shirley (Auckland), high jump, hurdles and decathlon ; S. Cabot (Dunedin), walks. They will he sent at the expense of the New Zealand Athletic Association, and will leave New Zealand on .Inly 30th in the IJlimaroa, and will retnni by the Mnungnnui on August 071 h. The profit on the American tour was reported as - £V2~j>. Of this sum 2 r, per cent, goes to the f'mmeil, and the balance will be divided among the centres nmd clubs pro rata to Ihe profits made on the meetings. Tn passing Rose’s record of -Imin 13 secs for the mile, Air Tleenan dated it was a pity the record could not he recognised in South America, or Great. Britain. It was nearly an Empire record, being one-fifth of a second better than that of A. C. Hill.
