Referring to the successful flotation of the New Zealand loan of £0,0(H),COO in London during the past few days, the Primoi Minister, Air Coates, in a speech to a large and representative gathering at D'argaville, to-day said that he was entitled to regard what had happened as a, vote of confidence not only in the Dominion itself, l.u' also in the Government. It was a splendid testimony to the capacity, progress and integrity of the community, and wlso to the high regard in winch the stability of the Government was held in the heart of the Empire. All our cards had been placed on the table; our balance sheet li’ad been examined, and had received the approbation of the keenest financial critics at Home. The over-subscription of the loan in two hours spoke for itself. It was now up to all of our people to do all they could to live up to the fine reputation,, which New Zealand had gained. It was quite true that -eve had our little troubles, industrial and otherwise; hut with thrift, energy and hard work, on the part of all sections of the community, tho clouds would soon roll away, He was firmly convinced that the Dominion could look forward to even brighter days than had been experienced in the past.
