a -MILLIONAIRE’S HOUSE KAIDED. NEW YOBK, April 22. The palatial Pebble Jlidge residence of Air A. K. Alaeoinber, on -Monterey Peninsula, California, was visited yesterday by twelve armed and masked bandits, who after a Bacchanalian revel lasting six hours, got away with wines and spirits valued at more than £20,000 which were stored in steel vaults. The bandits overpowered, bound and gagged Air Alacomber’s five servants. They then cut a way with acetylene torches into the vaults, indulged in a magnificent feast, and finally carried ofi' their liquid treasure in motor-cars. Air Alacomber is in Europe. . Air Alacomber, who owns one of the finest racing stables in the United States and is a millionaire, won two famous races in England last year—the ( esarewitch, with bis' Ereneh horse Eorseti. and the Cambridgeshire, with ■Masked Ahnwei. He made a “double” bet of £IOO with a London firm of commission agents, backing both horses to win, and accepted odds of 500 to 1. The result was that he cleared CoO.OOO. Two years previously be won the Ces- . arewiteh with Bose' Prince.
