„ [“ The Times ” Service.] KIUM ARRIVES. (Received this day at 11.0 a.m.) ' LONDON, May 31. Reuter’s Tangier , correspondent says the Spaniards claim Abdel Krini, who arrived at Taza yesteday, as their prisoner, because eighteen Spanish officer prisoners aro not accounted for; also because Abdel ICriin started the war against Spain before lighting the French. Spanish prisoners are ;n a pitiable condition. They are very bitter on the subject of their treatment. French prisoners were better treated. A mournful cavalcade of over two hundred mules sH.iggering under the burden of Abdel Krnu anti his wife’s personal belongings, wended its way along the dusty mountainous roads to Tana. It completed the journey much in excess of the scheduled time owing to tribes refusal to assist the craus port leaders of the goods procession on route. Humiliations were endured by tho gnzo of once loyal villagers, now scarcely concealing their contempt for tho former, all powerful chief. - KRIM’S STATEMENT. PARIS, May 31. ICrim informed “Le- Journal ’ that ho would have made peace with 1< ranee before, and also liberated his prisoners bu the eould not necede to France’s demand to release Spaniards. He emphasised that he was defeated by France and not by Spain. 1 only ask I shall not be handed over to the Spanish ’authorities, and that my family and suite shall not be accused ; I alone am responsible, because I alone W commended.
