Tho following report will ho considered and dealt with at the public meeting to ho held at the County Chambers at 7. 30 o’clock to-morrow evening:— Your Sub-Committee begs to report as follows: 1. —That tho Society lie named the Westland Competitions Society. 2. —-That the officers lie:—Patron, President, two Vice-Presidents, Executive Committee of live, Secretary and Treasurer. 3. —The aim of the Society to be to foster and encourage Elocutionary raid musical ability throughout the district bv means of public competitions. 4. —The subscriptions be:—Juevndes, 2s ;Adults, ss; Family Ticket, 7s (id. 5. —The Juvenile Divisions ho:—7 years and under; 0 years and over 7 years; 12 years and over 9 years; 15 years'and over 12 years; 18 years and over 15 years; over IS years, open class. Age to be determined by date of birthday at time of entry for any competition. 6. Rules. Rules for the conduct of the Society to he adopted from the YVellinglon Competitions Society, Incorporated, to such an extent as applicable. ■ 7. The first Competitions to be held on Monday and Tuesday, August 23rd and 24th, 192 G, being the opening davs of the next term school holidays. DRAFT PROGRAMME. Oratorial Display.—ls to 18 years own selection, to be speech taken from any living Statesman. Musical Monologue.—ls to 18 years, own selection, (not humorous). Recitation. —7 years and under; 7 to !); 9 to 12; 12 to 15; 15 to 18. Humorous Recitation.—l2 to 18. Recitation in Character. —9 to 1.2; 12 to 15; 15 to 18. Reading at Sighi.—l2 to 15; 15 to 18. Prepared Reading.—l2 to 15; 15 to IS. Children’s Dialogue.—l2 to 15; 15 to 18. Open Class.—Oratorial Display, propared speech; Tnipromtu Speech; Recitation (selected); Recitation (own selection); Musical Monologue (own selection) ; Recitation Monologue (humorous) ; Shakespearian Recitation. VOCAL MUSIC—OPEN—OWN SELECTION. Soprano solo; Mezzo soprano lo; Contralto solo; Tenor solo; Baritone solo; Bass solo; Sacred solo; Operatic or Dramatic solo; Duct; Quartette; Song in character; Humorous solo. JUVENILE SECTION. Song in- character.—9 to 12 ; 12 to 15; 15 to 18. Song for boys.—9 to 12; 12 to lo; 15 to 18. Song for girls.—9 to 12; 12 to 15. Choral singing.—Under 18 years. Action chorus.—Under 15 years. INSTRUAI EN'TA L M ITS!C—OPEN OWN SELECTION. Piano solo; piano duet; violin solo; instrumental trio. JUVENILE SECTION. Piano 5010.—7 to 9; 9 to 12; 12 to 15; 15 to JS. Violin 5010.—9 to 12; 12 to 15; 15 to 18. DANCING—JUVENILE SECTION. National.—7 to 12: Operatic 9 to 18; Classic 9 to 18. That when the draft programme is agreed to the Committee select tho required test pieces and have the book of words printed in due course for circulation to tho schools, ylc. That entries close about ten days before the date of the Competitions. That the meeting discuss the ques tion of judges to he appointed.
