Striking A Mmm.K Course. To bring up children without spoiling them, we must strike the middle course between pampering on the cue I hand and “hardening” on the other. This is not so easy as. it seems. The “give and t- ike” principle that is so speciously advocated to those about to marry applies here, hut it must he practised with caution. AVc must sometimes sink our own notions of doing things and let the child exploit his. After all, experience is the greatest moral teacher and he must learn from Lh-.it. ■ If the lessons so learnt are likely to prove too hard the parents must intervene, otherwise ■ the child, ho could not logically blame experience for his troubles w,ill justly condemn h,is parents for their indifference.
