In the Supreme Court, Mr Justice Hcrtlmnn sentenced Wircmu Rana for forgery and uttering at Tauranga ,to twelve months’ hard labour, to be followed by two years’ reformative detention, to commence at the expiration of three months’ imprisonment now being served. His Honor described accused as a notorious thief. Charles "Wals'li, for false pretences Rotorua, was .sentenced to twelve month's hard labour and to two years' reformative treatment. Charles Henry Whitehead, who os. raped from. Waiktine prison, said the Judge, was another new arrival who got here last year. A month after lie arrived ho got two years' reformative detention for breaking and enter- : "g. Three years’ reformative detention was ordered, to be concurrent with bis present sentence. Henry Patrick Moor, alias Paul Mercer, alias Charles Williamson, for breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime at Rotorua, was sentenced to two years’ hard la hour, to take effect at the expiration of his present sentence of three months’ imprisonment.

PRISONERS SENTENCED. WELLINGTON. May 25. Prisoners were sentenced by Justice Rceil to-ilay as follows: Albert Graham Gleeson, for two charges of breaking and entering anil four charges of theft; Herbert Gleesoil, two charges of breaking and entering and live charges of theft; and Henry Thomas, two charges of breaking and entering and seven charges of theft, all the charges being admitted. Thomas was also charged with arson. All the offences were committed at Ormondvillo between January and March 1926.

The Judge said that the accused bad terrorised the Napier district, burning anil thieving. That sort of thing must lie stopped and a sentence would bo imposed to act as a deterrent to those who might combine to fight against society. Each would be sentenced to two years’ bard labour on each charge, to be followed by three years’ reformative detention. Arthur Henry Chamber, breaking, entering anil theft at Levin, was ordered two years' reformative detention.

Alexander Spratley Jolly, opening a postal packet was ordered three years in tlie Borstal Institution.
