CRICKET.

[Reuter Telegrams.] AGAINST OXFORD. (Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, May 25. The weather was sultry and overcast and wicket wearing. Gregory and M/iiley opened the attack and Holmes went out in Gregory’s second over. Oxford continued to score steadily, mainly at the expense of Mailey, who Taylor lifted for six to square leg. Facing Ryder and Richardson the batsmen were pegged down to occasional singles. When Taylor was fifty-six ho sent a hard return to Richardson, which was not accepted. Stephenson gave a sound and stylish display. Taylor exhibited hard, clean driving. He hit one six and three fours. Oxford’s tail was most pronounced. Richardson’s wickets all came in tho last seven overs, in which lie took five for seven runs.
